MEDS-1 SCHEDULED
EMS COURSES
THESE COURSES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WHERE AN "OPEN COURSE" DESIGNATION IS NOTED. THOSE COURSES DESIGNATED AS A "CLOSED COURSE" ARE COURSES THAT ARE PROVIDED TO VARIOUS AGENCIES AND WORKPLACES UNDER INSTRUCTIONAL AGREEMENTS. LISTING OF THESE COURSES IS SOLELY TO ASSIST THE STUDENTS FROM THESE PROGRAMS IN CONFIRMING THE COURSE DATES & TIMES.
NOTE: ALL OPEN COURSES ARE PROVIDED WITHOUT STUDENT PRE-SCREENING. TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH A SELF- EVALUATION THAT MAY HELP IN DETERMINING FITNESS FOR THESE PROGRAMS AND THE REQUIRED FITNESS FOR EMS ACTIVITIES, WE HAVE A LINK BELOW TO EACH OF THE US-DOT PROGRAM NATIONAL STANDARD CURRICULUM DOCUMENTS. ONCE THE PDF. FILE IS ON YOUR SCREEN, VIEW APPENDIX "A" FOR THE FUNCTIONAL JOB ANALYSIS FOR EACH CERTIFICATION TYPE. THIS WILL ASSIST STUDENTS IN DETERMINING THE CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO FUNCTION AS AN EMS PROVIDER.
USDOT FIRST RESPONDER DOCUMENT
Each JOB ANALYSIS is also used by the NATIONAL REGISTRY OF EMT's (NREMT) as assessment criteria for registration application as a Nationally Registered First Responder or EMT-Basic. The NREMT policy states, " Individuals applying for registration... must be capable of performing all of the duties and tasks outlined in the job description contained in the Course Guide of the U.S. Department of Transportation: National Standard ... Curriculum and in the Functional Job Analysis... "
NOTE: Regarding First Responder certification, the NREMT registration is currently an option in Minnesota, however all students who are successful in becoming a State of Minnesota Registered First Responder are eligible for the NREMT First Responder examination.
